The Magpul CTR AR-15 Carbine Stock
The CTR is Magpul’s most sold stock for good reason. It is light, performs well and comes in at a great price. The CTR has a ton of great features that help to set it apart from others.
The CTR is an extremely comfortable stock to shoot from. This stock has a sloped cheek piece that allows for an increased amount of space to use for a cheek weld. In addition to this, the CTR comes standard with a rubber but pad. This rubber pad helps the stock to better grab onto your shoulder pocket by creating a slip-resistant surface. This goal is to minimize stock movement during firing, keeping your stock in the same place so that you can stay on target.
The Magpul CTR is known for having an extremely solid lock-up against the buffer tube. This is accomplished by Magpul’s innovative friction lock. The friction lock acts to essentially wedge the stock against the receiver extension tube, thereby greatly reducing stock wobble and rattle. This gives the stock a feeling of near fixed stock rigidity.
The Magpul CTR is also compatible with a lot of optional accessories as well. For instance, the CTR can be fitted with a non-AR-15 application cheek riser, if you are using an AR stock adapter on your shotgun or AK platform. Additionally, the CTR can be fitted with an enhanced recoil pad. Although the AR-15 is not known for having stout recoil, the recoil pad can come in handy for extended strings of fire or if you are taking a carbine class.
With its A-Frame design, the CTR is extremely durable and well protected. The frame design allows for the lock release latch to be protected from impact and provides some added rigidity to the rear portion of the stock, in the occasion that the stock is dropped on the ground.
