Bravo Company Manufacturing BCM KMR AR-15 Rail System

  •   The BCM KMR is a revolutionary new hand guard system for the AR-15 is several ways.  First, the KMR incorporated the new KeyMod accessory interface system.  This system comes as an enhancement and replacement for the military developed MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny rail.  While the Picatinny rail has served several users well, the KeyMod system blows it out of the water in several ways.  First and foremost, the KeyMod system dramatically cuts the weight.  The system is able to do this because it is a negative space mounting system.  This is vastly different from the Picatinny section, because with Picatinny, you had to add the Picatinny rails sections to the hand guard.  With KeyMod, you can start with a solid hand guard and then remove material from it to form the KeyMod mounting holes.  Another benefit of the KeyMod system over Picatinny is that it is much more comfortable to grasp onto.  The Picatinny quad rails of yesteryear would quickly turn your hand into hamburger after a day of shooting.  The Picatinny rail sections were rather aggressive and would quickly dig into your hands after shooting.  With the smooth recesses of the KeyMod slots, getting a hold on the KMR is very comfortable.  Also, making the KMR more ergonomic to hold onto is the fact that it is much slimmer than a full Picatinny railed hand guard.  The narrower rail is much easier to hold onto and increases shooter control and confidence, and handling the weapon is much easier when you have a solid rip on the hand guard.
  • The BCM KMR departs from the mass majority of hand guard on the market.  Most AR-15 hand guards are machine from 6061 or 7075 aluminum.  The KMR series however, uses an aluminum and magnesium alloy.  While this does increase the sale price a bit, it results in a substantial (30-40%)decrease in weight when compared to an aluminum hand guard.  However, fear not because this aluminum and magnesium alloy has the same strength properties so, this rail system will be durable. 
  • To make sure that this rail continues to look as good as new, Bravo Company Manufacturing is using a new, proprietary finishing process.  This process was originally developed for use in the aerospace industry.  The process is a plasma deposition.  This process leaves a ceramic like coating on the surface, which is vastly superior to chrome or anodizing in terms of wear resistance.  This coating is highly stabilized, which leaves it with a near pore-less surface.  This surface is extremely smooth, the resistance to corrosion is very good.
