Magpul ACS-L

Overview of the Magpul ACS-L Adaptable Carbine Stock (MAG378 / MAG379)

The Magpul ACS-L is Magpul’s revision of the ACS stock.  This stock offers a lighter weight, more streamlined version of the ACS.  However, it does take away some of the storage of the original ACS.  However, this stick is well-made, comfortable to shoot, and packs a tone of features.

What’s New With the ACS-L?

The ACS-L keeps a lot of the same, great features found on the ACS, but., there is one key difference between the two stocks.  The ACS-Light removes the two battery storage compartments that were on either side of the stock.  This allows the ACS-L to be lighter, slimmer and more streamlined compared to the original ACS

Storage Compartment.

Although the ACS-L no longer features the twin battery storage compartments on either side of the stock, this stock does still have a rather large compartment in the rear portion of the stock.  The storage compartment is rather large, considering it is on a carbine stock.  What ever you decide to store in that compartment is accessible through a latched door on the right side of the stock.  The latch is shielded to prevent from accidental snags and other hazards, such as inadvertent opening.

Friction Lock

The ACS-L mounts up extremely firmly to your AR-15.  Magpul’s Friction Lock makes this possible.  The Friction Lock essentially takes up the space between the buffer tube and the stock, wedging the two against each other.  This dramatically reduces the all to common stock wobble, generally associated with AR-15 carbine stocks.  The friction lock is so effective that it can give your adjustable carbine stock near the same rigidity as a fixed, rifle stock.  This rigidity gives your AR-15 the feeling of being one piece and being of very high quality, as there are few things or discerning that a rattling AR-15 stock.

Durable Design

Like a large majority of Magpul products, the ACS-L stock is primarily made out of impact resistant polymer that makes for an extremely durable stock.  Additionally, due to the A-Frame design of the stock, the locking release latch (probably the most vulnerable piece on the exterior of the stock) is protected from impact, thereby preventing possible catastrophe.  The locking mechanism on the ACS-L also uses chrome silicon springs to provide you with longer, reliable service and positive locking.

Comfortable to Shoot

The ACS-L has large, sloping cheek pieces on either side of the stock.  These cheek pieces offer a lot of real-estate for you to find a place for a comfortable cheek weld, making for an enjoyable shooting experience.  Also, the ACS-L has a rubber pad on the butt of the stock.   This helps to stock to more easily grip your shoulder, preventing slippage during firing.

Sling Mount Options

The Magpul ACS-L has a multitude of options for you to mount your sling.  For starters, there is a 1.00” sling loop at the bottom/rear section of the stock.  Additionally, there is a mid mounted attachment slot on either side of the rifle that will accept a Quick Disconnect QD cup with enough clearance for up to a 1.5” sling swivel.  Also, the ACS-L is compatible with the Magpul ASAP end plate, should you want to run with that option.
