Overview of the Magpul PRS Precision Rifle Stock (MAG307 / MAG308)

The Magpul PRS Precision Adjustable stock is a mainstay on AR-15s that are built to take accurate shots.  This is due to its comfort and adjustability.  There is simply no other stock on the market that offers such adjustability for a fair price.

Adjustability of the Magpul PRS

The main attraction of the Magpul PRS stock is that it has an adjustable cheek piece height, as well as an adjustable length of pull.  The overall range of adjustment isn’t huge, but it is significant enough to make a noticeable difference in the comfort of the stock.  The cheek comb has an available adjustment range of 0.75”.  In order to achieve this amount of travel, you will have to click the adjustment wheel 29 clicks.  The length of pull is adjustable by 1”, which takes 39 clicks of the adjustment wheel.  Although there are a lot of clicks to get from point to point, this ensures that you will get the adjustment exactly where you want it.  Additionally, this is likely an adjustment you will only have to make as often as your change your scope, so it is not something that you will be constantly messing around with.  The adjustment wheels used to alter the LOP and cheek height are large and easy to use.  They are also composed of machined aluminum and have positive audible and tactile clicking detent.  This not only gives the stock a well-built, quality feel, but ensures that the adjustments hold their position.

Shooter Comfort and Easy Shooting

The finely adjustable length of pull and cheek piece height are sure to feel better than most other stocks on the market.  In addition to those features, the Magpul PRS also has a rubber but pad.  This pad acts as an anti-slip surface and prevents the stock from moving around excessively in your shoulder pocket.  This “toe” of the stock features a contour surface.  This surface is made to fir your non-firing hand so that you can give the stock some added stability during supported shooting.  Also, to make this stock easy to shoot from, there is a picatinny rail section at the bottom of the stock.  While there are many thing you could potentially add to this section of picatinny, one of the most commonly added accessories is a monopod.  A monpod can add a great amount of stability to the rear of the rifle allowing for more easier precision shots.

Built to Last

As with all Magpul stocks, the stock is primarily composed of a tough, impact resistant polymer designed for heavy use.  In addition to this, the butt plate on the back of the stock is made of aluminum.  This butt plate is strong enough to withstand the recoil impulse of .50 BMG, as well as other high-energy impulses.  All of the aluminum components incorporated into the stock are finished with a Type III, Class 2 hard anodizing to prevent wear and corrosion.

Available in Multiple Variations to Suit Your Needs

The Magpul PRS is available in two separate base product numbers, MAG307 and MAG308.  The reason for these differing product numbers is because the MAG307 is primarily designed for the AR-15, while the MAG308 is designed for large framed AR’s (e.g., AR-10, LR-308, SR-25, etc.).  The MAG307 cannot be used on large framed AR’s due to the fact that if the cheek piece is raised, it will prevent full travel of the charging handling, making it impossible to manually cycle the bolt and charge the firearm.  So, in order to cope with the longer charging handle of the large framed AR’s the MAG308 has a 0.5” longer length of pull and the cheek piece is slightly abbreviated.
