Tapco AK Mags
Overview of Tapco AK Magazines
Tapco offers polymer magazines for the AK-47 and AK-74. These magazines feature a military-grade glass-filled nylon body that is rugged and corrosion resistant, unlike standard steel magazines. The magazines also have a rugged steel floor plate. For the internals, these Tapco magazines have a heavy-duty spring, for enhanced reliability, as well as an anti-tilt follower to prevent mis-feeds.
As an added bonus, this US made magazine counts as 3 US 922r compliant parts. The magazine follower, body and floor plate all mount as different compliance parts. This can give you greater flexibility in regards to your AK build, depending on what your preference in parts is.
The magazine body of these Tapco mags is composed of Military Grade Glass-Filled nylon. While this is an extremely touch material, polymer AK mags may give some people some hesitation. This is due to the fact that the rear locking lug on AK magazines can be subject to a lot of pressure. While there have been instances of these rear lugs snapping off, these Tapco mags have proven themselves to be extremely durable, as you can see for yourself in the video below…
These Tapco mags are available in multiple configurations. As you can see below, there are magazines of various capacities, as well as colors. Of course, the standard, 30 round magazine is the best selling. However there are 20 round mags that allow you to make your AK a more compact package, should you want to keep it in a discrete place in your home or truck. And for those that live in ban states, there are shorty 10 round magazines.
Also, depending on your preference, these polymer magazines are available in multiple color options. These is the standard black, as well as flat dark earth for those in more desert like environments. And, for those with a traditional taste, Tapco offers a color variation that is similar to BakeLite Orange.
Tapco also offers their AK mags with different magazine bodies. The original magazines have aggressive ribbing on the exterior to allow to a more slip resistant gripping surface. However, for those more interested in a smooth side magazine, Tapco has you covered with their Smooth Side Low Drag Mags. These smooth side mags are designed after the original Bulgarian steel AK-47 magazines.
Although these magazines will work with a multitude of different AK patterned rifles, they will not work in a standard Saiga rifle without modification to the rifle and magazine. Although the modification to get them to work is rather simple, any modification to the magazine will void the warranty and the magazine will not be able to be returned.
Tapco offers a lifetime guarantee for these magazines. For any warranty inquiries or warranty service, please contact Tapco, Inc. For more specific technical information, please feel free to contact us or Tapco, Inc.
