The Beginnings of the Magpul PMAG
When it was first launched, Magpul’s P-MAG was scoffed at by some of the skeptics — they said that the lightweight polymer magazine would be unable to sustain the potential abuse an AR-15 magazine can be subject to and also questioned the performance of polymer in cold weather conditions. However since its launch, the PMAG has silenced its critics who have seen it being dropped, run over, stomped on, and frozen, and it still lives on to see another day. Specifically designed for the AR-15 modern sporting rifle, Magpul’s M2 and M3 generation of magazines are known not only for consistence of quality and reliability but also for cost effectiveness.

Amazing Features of the PMAG
The expansive feature set offer by the Magpul PMAGs is one of the many reasons why we choose to offer these magazines to our customers. The Magpul M2 PMAGs are available in a wide assortment of colors. Of course, there is the standard black, but Magpul also makes these magazines in flat dark earth (FDE), foliage green and OD green. This variety of colors allows you to pick the model that will best suite your needs.
Although they individual features of the specific Magpul PMAG may be inherent to that particular model, there are some commonalities between most of the PMAGs. They PMags utilize a polymer formed anti-tilt follower. This follower helps to increase reliability by preventing binding of the follower. The polymer construction of the follower also gives it self-lubricating properties to further enhance function. Stainless steel springs are used to for your bullets to the top of the magazine. Stainless steel was chosen as the material of choice, as it is corrosion resistant and has a long service life. The Magpul PMAGs generally have distinctive block like styling on the external magazine body. This block patterns also helps you to get a good grip on the magazine. The ridges of the block help to prevent your hand from slipping. In addition to the above features, there are certain models of PMAGs that feature Magpul’s MagLevel system. The Maglevel is a window in the side of the magazine. In addition to the window, the magazine spring is also marked. The combination allows you to better keep track of how many bullets are remaining in your magazine.

New Magpul Glock PMAG 17 GL9
Announced during the 2015 SHOT (Shooting Hunting Outdoor Trade) Show, Magpul plans to offer a polymer construction, 17 round, 9mm Glock Magazine. In addition to it’s pure polymer construction, some other features that set this Glock PMAG apart from other Glock Mags are that it has Magpul’s Paint pen Identification Matrix on the base plate to more easily mark your magazines. Also, a feature that many will be interested in is that the PMAG 17 GL9 has an easily removable base plate. As many know, the base plates on the OEM Glock magazines can be quite laborious to remove from the magazine body, often requiring the use of a C-clamp. The Magpul Glock magazine only requires you to depress the locking plate with the tip of a bullet (or pen or other device) and then simply slide off the base plate. This magazine will work with all 9mm Glocks (Glock 17, 17L, 19, 26, 34). However, in the compact (Glock 19) and Sub-Compact (Glock 26) models, a portion of the magazine will extend past the grip frame. Priced right and made in the USA, these Glock magazines are going to be hard to beat!! For more information, check out Magpul’s release video below.
The Magpul PMAG D-60 AR-15 Drum Magazine
At the 2015 SHOT Show, Magpul released a myriad of new, innovative products designed to meet the demands of consumers. One of these products included something that no one was expecting from Magpul, an AR-15 drum magazine. The Magpul PMAG D60 is designed is primarily designed to be compatible with AR-15 rifles and will hold 60 rounds of .223/5.56x45mm ammunition. This has the effect of doubling the shooters ammunition capacity when compared to standard magazines, without having the need to change magazines. The D-60 is composed primarily of polymer, with the exception of springs, pins and other small items. The PMAG Drum has a MagLevel type winder in the rear of the drum to allow you to keep track of your ammunition status. Also, in the rear of the drum, Magpul has included a spot for their pain pen dot matrix for identification markings. Unlike some other magazines, the D-60 will seat on a closed bolt and has a functional last round bolt hold open feature, which is absent from several other drum magazines. The magazines is easily loaded with stripper clips or via single rounds. To aide in the loading process, Magpul has incorporated a loading assist lever, that, when pressed, will decreased spring pressure and make more space, allowing for you to easily drop in a 5.56x45mm round. Making things even easier, Magpul has incorporated a a folding feed lip that allows you to simply drop round straight in instead of slide them in from the front. This folding feed lip can also be used to expedite unloading (when you aren’t able to do it the fun way, with your trigger finger), as it will allow all of the rounds to be expelled from the magazine without having to individually thumb them out. Should you need to get to the internals of the drum for maintenance or cleaning, the drum can be disassembled in as fast as 30-40 seconds by simply popping a few of the hinges.
Magpul PMag M3 Sand AR-15 Magazine
In producing this new sand colored PMAG, Magpul has actually based the formed this PMAG out of a new material. As a function of using this new material, the new PMAG, ended up being the color it is, sand. This new material and sand color is reported to soon be available across Magpul’s entire magazine line. This is a big announcement, as Magpul has yet to offer a color other the black for any of their Gen M3 PMAGs. The color is a functional camouflage color, as is. It is actually based on the lightest color found on MultiCam. However, as an added bonus for those needing a color for a non-desert environment, the material and color of these new sand PMAGs are very receptive to Rit Dye. This makes it very easy for you to custom color your magazines based on your individual needs.
Another feature about this new color and new material that will be used in Magpul magazines is that it is significantly stronger than the existing PMAG Material.
