The AmeriGlo Pro i-Dot sights are steel sights with green tritium inserts and a lime green accentuated front sight that are designed for low light defensive use. These sights are built for fast action and to eb durable and reliable. These sights are the perfect companion for your concealed carry or home defense Glock pistol.
The Pro iDot sights are designed to fit a wide variety of Glock pistols. These sights will fit on the following Glock models…
Both the front and rear sights of this sight set contain a tritium insert. The function of a tritium insert is to allow you to obtain a usable sight picture in low light situations. Tritium is a radioactive material that emits a visible glow. This glow can be used to align your sights when there is not sufficient ambient light. Tritium does not require a power source or outside energy in order to produce light. Tritium is self luminescent and able to produce light on its own. This means that you do not have to depend on batteries or “charge” the tritium with light before use. The tritium will glow by itself for several years. This allows ou to be very confident in your tritium night sights. Since they do not rely on batteries or an other outside source to produce their illumination, tritium is extremely reliable.
The front post of the Glock Pro i-Dot sight set is 0.140” wide. The rear notch sight has a 0.180” wide notch. This combination of sight arrangement allows for fast and easy sight acquisition.
The tritium inserts are set up in a figure 8 configuration. This differs from the more common single dot front and two dot rear sight arrangement. However, the figure 8 arrangement does have some benefits. With the 3-dot sight picture, it is possible to get an incorrect sight picture where you place the front dot to the left or right of the rear notch. However, this is not possible with the figure 8 arrangement. Whenever you see the figure 8 arrangement with the two tritium dots stacked on top of one another you know that your sights are properly aligned.
In addition to night usage, these sights are also very easy to use during the daylight. The front sight has a lime green outline around the tritium insert. This green outline is made with a photo-luminescent paint. This helps the front sight stand out against the background, which can make the sight much easier to pick up during fast, high stress engagements.
Rear Sight Profile
The shape of the rear sight was taken into special consideration when designing this sight. The front edge of the rear sight is squared off, leaving a robust ledge. This ledge can be used for one handed manipulations when you are in a pinch. For instance, you can rack your slide off of your belt, holster, table, or other object. The durable steel construction of the sight will ensure that the sight will not fail with hard use.
The back of the rear sight is under cut. This was done so that the top of the rear sight will cast a shadow on the rest of the rear sight when used during the day. This helps to reduce the chance of glare.
