Design & Development BCM KMR
The KeyMod accessory mounting system was developed by Eric Kincel who worked for VLTOR at the time, but is currently employed by Bravo Company Manufacturing. The motivation to develop a new accessory mounting system came from the desire to design a handguard system that was lighter weight, eliminate the need for full time quad Picatinny rails, and allowed for excellent ventilation. The KeyMod system was initially developed for a project at VLTOR that was for the Marine Corps System Command.
KMR Mounting System
The Bravo Company 9″ KeyMod Rail has a unique method for attaching the handguard to the barrel. The BCM rail uses a cross bolt system to clamp the handguard on to the barrel nut. The main benefit of engineering this new type of mounting system was that it is able to maintain tension, even during extended string of fire. The problem with other hand guard mounting systems is that a hot gas tube would heat up the mounting mechanism and generally cause the mounting bolts to loosen. The BCM new mounting design solves this issue.
Included with the Package
The BCM 9″ KMR package comes with several components. In addition to the KMR-9, you will also receive the mounting hardware necessary to mount it to your AR-15. This includes the barrel nut, cross bolts as well as the barrel nut wrench adapter. In addition to the mounting hardware, the package also include a KeyMod compatible Picatinny rail section. This Picatinny rail section will allow you to mount your Picatinny accessories to your new KeyMod rail system.
