Having the proper tools for the job can make a world of difference when putting together your AR-15. Also, having all of those tools in once place is one better. Realizing this, Magpul engineered a single tool that incorporates many of the specific needs when building or maintaining your AR-15.
When making this tool, Magpul started off with a solid foundation. The Magpul Armorer’s Wrench is made from steel sourced in the United States. Using a high grade steel ensures that you will only have to buy this tool once and it will give you a lifetimes worth of service. For added durability, the steel used in this AR-15 Armorer’s Wrench undergoes a heat-treating process. This heat-treating increases the strength and durability of the steel. Nearing the end of production, the AR-15 wrench is finished with a manganese phosphate coating. This coating helps to prevent corrosion.
The Magpul AR-15 Armorer’s Wrench as several tools incorporated into it’s design. This allows you to save money by buying only one tool, instead of having to buy each one separately. For barrel installation and removal, the wrench has an interface that is compatible with USGI barrel nuts. This allows you to easily remove and tighten barrel nuts for putting together your new AR-15 build or doing general maintenance. To allow you to reach the proper torque setting for your barrel nut, the armorer’s wrench has a ½” wrench drive interface. This allows you to use your torque wrench in conjunction with your Magpul wrench to achieve the proper torque setting. The wrench also has a free float tube barrel nut interface for certain free-floating handguards.
For the front end of your AR-15, this wrench has a ¾” wrench. This part of the armorer’s wrench is designed to be used on most flash hiders/muzzle brakes.
For the other end of your AR-15, the Magpul armorer’s wrench has a receiver extension wrench and a castle nut wrench. The receiver extension (also called buffer tube) wrench is compatible with rifle length, as well as entry length tubes. The castle nut wrench is compatible with USGI castle nuts and can be used with aftermarket endplates such as the Magpul ASAP & ASAP QD endplates
