The Nikon P-Series scope mount is specifically designed to be used on the AR-15 rifle. This rifle scope mounting systems uses 1” rings that are compatible with scopes that have a 1” diameter main tube, such as the Nikon P223 scope.
The standout feature seen on the P-series mount is the cantilever design. As you can see in the image above, the Picatinny interface sits rearward of the scope ring. This allows you to out your scope out farther forward than if you were to have standard vertical rings. This cantilevered design is a very important feature for scope rings designed for the AR-15. Due to the limited Picatinny rail space on top of an AR-15 flat top receiver, you can only put a scope mount so far forward. This can be an issue for certain scopes, as they may require a longer eye relief. Also, the shooter may prefer to have a cheek weld close to the rifle receiver. In either event, these P-Series mounts give you greater flexibility. The cantilevered design allows you to mount your scope farther forward than you would be able to using traditional scope rings.
Picatinny Scope Mount
The P-Series mount has an integrated Picatinny mounting base. This is a very versatile mounting base that can be used on any Picatinny rail space that is large enough to accommodate the mount. However, the mount is ideally suited for the AR-15. The Picatinny mounting base is a clamp style that will easily mount to your Picatinny rail section.
These scope rings are precision machined from a high grade aluminum. This gives the rings an immense amount of durability and also allows the rings to remain light in weight.
