Overview of the Phase 5 HandGuard
Phase 5 has designed a unique handguard system for the AR-15. The distinct slope-nose style of this handguard gives it an aggressive look. This quad rail also has several functional features. The free float designed ensures that your AR-15 reaches it’s maximum accuracy potential and the Picatinny rail space gives you plenty of versatility to configure your rifle. A high quality product from Phase 5.
The Phase 5 handguard has several built-in sling mounts. At the forward and aft section on both the right and left side of this handguard, you will find QD sling sockets. These sockets allow you to quickly and easily attach your QD compatible sling to your rifle. Since these sockets are located at 4 points on the rail, whether your are left or right handed, you will find well placed mount. These mounts are also anti-rotational. This prevents your sling from getting tangled. By integrating these sling mounts, you are able to save money from not having to buy an additional mount.
Picatinny Rail Space
The top section of the Phase 5 quad rail runs continuously, give you a long section to mount a night vision optic or back-up iron sight of your choice. The sloped nose give you and extra little bit of sight radius. The design team chose to remove the bulk of the side and under-mount Picatinny railing, leaving only smaller section at the forward portion of the rail. This helps to decrease the overall weight of the handguard, making for improved balance. Also, this gives you hand and slimmer profile section to hold on to, which most shooters appreciate. The forward sections of Picatinny railing give you the modularity to mount your necessary accessories in a position that most people would mount them anyway.
