Overview of the Storm Lake Glock 19 Threaded Barrel
Storm Lake is one of the nations leading barrel manufacturers. The have become well known throughout the industry due to their attention to detail and quality products. Storm Lake Barrels have developed a way to make a high quality barrel in a consistent manner so that you always receive a top quality product.
The Storm Lake Glock 19 threaded barrel is machined from a very high quality 415R stainless steel. This steel was specifically developed for use in firearms and is well known to produce excellent results. The use of 416R stainless steel allows for the barrel to be shot from as low as -40 degree Fahrenheit. One of the main reasons for the advantages seen in 416R steel is because of the addition of Molybdenum to the alloy. The 416R stainless steel also has a lower sulfur content than 416-stainless.
Unlike the stock OEM Glock 19 Barrel, the Storm Lake Threaded Glock 19 barrel has broach cut rifling. The OEM barrel has polygonal rifling. The cut broach rifling seen in the Storm Lake Barrel allows you to shoot jacketed, coated, as well as cast lead bullets. Glock advises against shooting cast lead bullets from their factory barrels. The reason being that lead deposits can build up and lead to an increase in pressure. This is not a worry with the standard cut broach rifling, as you are able to shoot cast lead bullets.
The threaded Glock 19 Barrel is extended to 4.72”. This extension allows the threading to protrude past the opening in the slide to allow you to attach any compatible muzzle device. With the 1/2×28 threading, you can attach any number of compatible muzzle devices, such as suppressors, flash hiders, muzzle brakes, etc. The barrel also comes with an included thread protector to prevent damage to the threads when a muzzle device is not attached to the barrel.
